I’m trying to look for something cute, and personal for my cousin. She’s my un-official bridesmaid. (We aren’t having a wedding party, but she’s going to be helping me set up/make centerpieces, and clean up. So I wanted to get her a little something to say “thank you.”)
I’ve been looking up necklaces, between $50-75, that either has something to do with guitars (we write songs together,) or Italy (we’re Italian)… and it seems like Etsy is just filled with cheap-looking, thin, metal punch-out shapes on a chain. Boring. Ugly.
Dammit. I LOVE Etsy, but all of a sudden, I can’t find anything I like. *sigh* Am I searching for the wrong things? Am I not using the right keywords? Am I not spending enough?? Any suggestions for searching on Etsy?

It helps to be vague, the more descriptive you are the more it’ll narrow down your search. You’ll get more results but whenyou narrowthe price bigger chanceyou find something you’ll like. Also synonyms. Describing same thing different way since every seller it’s different. Example if you search “cat” also search kitten, kitty, whatever lol.

@LadyMoriarty: How about an engraved guitar pick necklace? Some of them look a little sloppy, but there are a few that look nice.

@somethingaquamarine: Meh, they look kinda cheap-ish. Maybe I’m looking for the wrong thing… what else besides jewelry could you gift a bridesmaid?

@LadyMoriarty: Ah, I think those were the “thin metal punch out shapes” you were talking about. You’re right: they do look kind of crappy. Can you get her a collection of items? I like this Moleskine music notebook:
I also think this treble clef ring is cute:
I’ve always gotten generic gifts as a bridesmaid, so I don’t have too many ideas. Hopefully someone else does!

@LadyMoriarty: you can’t blame the Etsy site itself for not having the specific item you’re looking for. It’s up to the artisade to decide what their craft is. Perhaps you can e-mail one of them and ask for something customized? Many of them will accommodate anything you ask them or. It’s not like they’re mass produced. Or you could shop somewhere else besides Etsy.

I have a friend that sells on Etsy, she has necklaces that are a glass locket. They have little charms you can customize and put in them. I know she has guitars and tons of other liitle things you can put in them … here is a link
