That is really a bummer! Can you chat with him about changing the songs? Editing the film more?

Perhaps if you have a type of style that you like you can suggest this.

🙁 i am sorry you are disappointed. that sucks…. i know.

did you get to see sample of the videographers work before you hired them? if it is not in line with their usual work, i would think you’d have grounds to be upset for sure… and perhaps have a reason to get the unedited footage from them to have someone else edit for you?

Can you ask for a copy of all the raw footage (no edits, no music, etc)? You could then shop around for someone else to do an edit the way you want. It may not fix all the quality issues, but at least you’d have better music. You could do it as a gift to yourself on your first anniversary! 🙂

@NC Girl:  +1. What you really want is the raw footage. Then poor editing can be fixed.

FI’s best friend got married in July, they got theirs back recently and were also disappointed.  Such a bummer, I know they’re not cheap!

I wasn’t crazy about mine. I wrote an honest review about him. He emailed me minutes later, very defensive, and wanting to fix a few things I did not like. He wants me to edit his review, obviously, when I watch it again.

So be 100% honest with him. Tell him EVERY single thing you did not like, and hope he offers to fix it.

Yeah, definitely get the raw footage! You can always re-edit it. I don’t know what kind of footage he got, but at the very least you could pick songs that you like. Sorry to hear about this. :[

My thought would be that I would not pay him another dime. He needs to be going out of his way to try and make sure you are a satisfied customer.

Raw footage for $125?  He should hand that over for nothing. It isn’t going to cost him anything anyway.  After 10 years or so all videos look dated and need re doing and you may want to change the music then.  Tell him you will see him in court and get that raw footage, it’s yours! This is very important for everyone if they like their video or not.  In 10 years you won’t care if he missed your first dance.  It will be seeing your grandparents, Dad, Mom and others at such a special time in your life.

I have checked around about the raw footage and the 125 dollars may not be so bad. I don’t know what is written in your contract?   I guess try to work with him and maybe he will give it to you for less.  I suppose he will have some work in loading the files and cost of discs or thumbdrives.   Some videographers have to edit their raw footage because they have made unprofessional remarks that were caught on audio and must go through hours of video trying to find them. They have cieling/floor shots (who cares?)   Anyway, one way or another I mayself would get all the footage that was shot.  good luck
