@blinx:  Well, what you’re noticing — and it’s very visible to me — is that the face on yours is much more narrow, while the others are all wider. It’s almost as if she put the head on vertically instead of horizontally. As a result, the features are all more condensed and are closer set to each other.  I can see why this would be disappointing to you, based upon the model you sent to her and her other work that you’ve seen.

Since you already HAVE the one she made, I don’t think you have anything at all to lose by contacting the seller to politely point out the differences as well as your disappointment. I would then ask if it would be possible for her to redo the work and to send you a new topper at no additional cost to you for either the second topper or the cost to ship it.

If the second topper arrives in time, and you like it better, you would be able to keep it and return the first set to her.  She should also be willing to pay for the return shipping.

All she can say is “no.”  If she does, I wouldn’t take any futher action, but it’s possible that she will agree with you once you have pointed out the differences to her.

I agree in that it actually looks pretty good!  While I think that you should express your concerns to her if you aren’t thrilled, I still think that your guests will find it absolutely adorable!  If you’re super dissatisfied, definitely shoot her a note, letting her know what you feel didn’t turn out the way you’d planned and see what she suggests to make it right.  As a seller, I’m sure she wants to receive all good reviews and will probably do what’s necessary to make her customers happy 🙂

That being said, we’re also having a custom topper made and I’m getting so nervous to see the final photo!  It’s a different seller on etsy, and her other work is really cute, so I’m just hoping it turns out how I imagine (it’s a total surprise to Fiance and features his favorite sports team)

I actually think yours is cuter than the original pic.  But if you don’t like it, have them redo it.

OMG that’s my cake topper!!!! last row on the left!!!! with the golden gate bridge in the back!!!

(matches my profile pic for WB!!!!)

This vendor was pretty easy to work with; the first time I wasn’t 100% happy with the painted face from her pictures (before she shipped) and she repainted “my face”

    If that helps!!

I looked back and forth at those photos…read your post over and over again…I have no idea what you’re talking about. The cake topper looks fine.

@yellowshoe:  Me too. I wasn’t even sure which ones were “right” and which we messed up.

    I think it’s totally fine.

It looks almost spot on to the original pic. The only thing that I would say that looks a bit different is that your cake toppers face especially by the cheeks isn’t as rounded as the other models. I only noticed because I was specifically looking to see if there was anything that was off so I doubt anyone else would.
