What about something like my band? Check out Brilliant Earth, they have lovely bands. The detailing on my band is pretty easy to see in person and adds a bit of sparkle.

sweatergal007 :  I have the Hudson set from Brilliant Earth and love it! Really, really great company to work with too.

VictorianChick :  Kinda out of the box idea, but what about plating the ring with black rhodium. I’m not sure how widely this is available, but Calla Gold offers the service for about $65 us. The darker material in the groves would let the engraving pop and look a lot more ‘vintage’ right up front. Similar to using Liver of Sulfer to age silver.

VictorianChick :  I haven’t read  through the entire thread, but there is a jeweler here in Virginia that specializes in the sort of thing you are seeking. I just picked a page so that you could check out his site yourself :http://www.hugokohl.com/blog/uncategorized/vintage-engagement-rings-vintage-wedding-bands-and-bridal-jewelry/

Hugo Kohl does a lot of custom work, too. I hope this helps.
