i was so excited to finally receive my wedding album yesterday! it’s really pretty and the photographer did a nice job with the layout and everything, but i was disappointed that she didn’t include more pictures. she included pics of the ceremony highlights and there was a good amount of pics of the wedding party and my husband and i by ourselves. but she didn’t include any pictures of my husband getting ready, she put a few of me when i was getting ready, but i was already dressed and ready to go, so i feel like those don’t really count as “getting ready pictures.” and she didn’t include any from our reception at all.
is that normal?
she gave me all the pictures on cd’s, so i can make another album with all the pictures i want, but it’s still disappointing. if i had known i’d end up having to make my own album, i wouldn’t have waited around for one from her :/

Well, how many pages did you pay for? If it wasn’t that many, that’s why those things weren’t included. I also think it is weird that your photog didn’t ask you for photo selections or ask for your approval of layouts before making the album. I think most people do both.

i figured that was why, but i don’t remember if there was a specific number of pages that were discussed. i can’t even check right now because all the paperwork is back home at my parents’ house. if had known in advance that she was only going to include certain pictures, i probably wouldn’t have cared so much, i was mostly just caught off guard.
i asked her if i needed to let her know which pics to include in my album and she said no. and i wish i had seen the layout before it was printed because i feel like there’s some wasted space where she could have put a couple more pictures. i guess it’s whatever, tho.

Most photographers I know at least show the B+G a proof of the album before it is sent to the printer if not let the couples pick the photos. I would contact your photographer and let them know your concerns.

That’s weird. Mine is going to design it then let me switch out if I want. I think that’s normal.

Did your photographer not offer you a proof before printing? I NEVER print an album without having it totally proofed by the client.
I would at least ask them about it. It really can depend on a few things, most importantly the photographer’s design style (which varies a lot from photographer to photographer), and how many pages were included in your album.

I do think this is a bit odd…my photog is having us pick each and every pic we want in the album…then she’s going to do the layout and show us a digital proof which we can change up to two times before printing…it does seem a little suspect that they give you no input at all :-
