so we just recently got our wedding photos back from our Hawaiian wedding. We didnt receive all that many. The photographer said he would take around 1800 photos for the amount of time we booked. We received about 500, and out of those 500 only about 300 are keepers (some were bad, and there were a lot of duplicates and pictures of the same thing) I have to check my contract but I THOUGHT he was going to send us all the photos that he took.
Anyway, that being said, we really dont have many pictures. He only got one picture of the group at the reception (there were only 8 of us) and for what ever reason…my mother in law changed into a bright rainbow tie dye dress for our reception. It didnt bother me at the time because I was enjoying myself and having a great time but now that we have the pictures back, Im just disappointed because that was the only picture of the group and this dress is well….distracting. I wish she would have waited to change at least until the photographer left. Is it common for people (esp bridal party/MOG or MOB) to change into such casual/loud attire before the wedding is even over? Im just disappointed in how it made the picture turn out and curious if this was normal :-/
**okay well I tried to upload the photo but it says the photo is too large. I really wanted to show you guys to see what you thought 🙁

Can you shrink the photo? I’d love to see it. I’m sure it’s not as bad as you think!

Did your photographer know the small size of the wedding when he told you you would get close to 1800 photos? I think that’s reasonable for a larger wedding (we received 2k photos from our wedding of 140 people), but I think that with a reception of only 8 people, I’d expect a much smaller amount.

k, I googled how to resize….here goes.

I definitely do not think her dress ruined the picture! There are a lot of colors going on in general, but what really stands out is how HAPPY everyone looks! I have found with my pictures (engagement and wedding pictures) that when I look at them right afterwards, I notice the things that went wrong or didn’t turn out the way I wanted. But once some time has passed, I am able to look at them and not notice those things, and just see the love and happiness that was taking place 🙂

since there is someone else wearing shorts, i didn’t even notice the tie dye. :/
love your dress and it looks like you guys were having so much fun!

I think the picture is super cute. Also, the number of photos seems about right based on the quotes I’ve received. A number of photographers have told me they will take about 2000 photos and that I will receive about 500. I can see how you might be disappointed when you thought you would be getting 1800 and then you didn’t… but if you have 300 great pictures, that sounds pretty awesome to me. It looks like you all had a great time!

I’m more distracted by the chick in shorts.

I noticed that first too. I think it is still a cute picture.
And as for the number, 300 good pictures is a lot. If he took 1800, not all of them were worth showing you. Blurred, blinking, awkward poses, and different things make not all pictures something you want to see and I think if he actually showed you that many pictures it would be totally overwhelming!

I noticed the shorts too.The tie dye dress is loud, but not too bad.Congratulations on your marriage!

You looked great and there were a lot of other colors going on that went with the vibe of the photos. The shorts however are what distracts in my opinion.

Just because a photographer takes 1800 it doesn’t mean you are going to get 1800. 400-700 would be about right. They need to cut down the images. Basically they TAKE 1800 but there’s duplicates in case you blink or something. Plus some pictures just don’t come out for one reason or another, whether it be because the lighting was off or the subject didn’t look happy. When it comes down to it, no bride would really want 1800. And no photographer gives it. Unfortunately you didn’t get a professional, based on the picture shown :-/

thank you all for your compliments 🙂 it really was a fun day! I also was not happy with seeing the shorts. I wish they had waited to change at least until the photographer left! From all your feed back though, I guess the picture isnt so bad 🙂
@blueflowers I agree with you. I was by no means blown away by the photos he produced. it was hard to find my venders as it was a destination wedding but Im just trying to make the best of it. We may try to do a “re-shoot” (althogh we would not get to go back to Hawaii) of the candid, romantic, poses the couple usually takes right after the ceremony. He didnt get a single one.

Sorry you are dissapointed!! I think the picture is really nice though. You guys look super happy and you can tell you were having a blast with each other. You could always do a re-shoot with just you and your husand
