I am so disappointed…I think I found my dream dress online..a Maggie Sottero Janica. I have called all the stores in my area (Los Angeles) and all the stores I call do not have the dress. I cant imagine buying a dress that I haven’t tried on. Has anybody had this problem?

Have any of the stores given you the option of them ordering it in? That might be a good idea. Or try calling them back in a few weeks. The stores are constantly updating their inventory. I completely understand though — I’ve had to drive out to Anaheim, Glendale, and all over the place just to try on dresses I like…
But it’s worth it if it’s the ONE, right? 🙂 It’s a gorgeous dress, I hope you find it somewhere. If I see it anywhere around L.A., I’ll let you know.

Maggie has a borrowing program! Most stores that carry her line will allow you to order in a specific dress that you want to try on for $50. Probably worth it if you think it’s The One!

Have you tried contacting customer service at the company? I liked a particular Romona Keveza dress and and they hunted it down for me and emailed me! I didn’t end up liking it after all in person, but it was so sweet of them I wish I had!

Thanks! I will start calling them tomorrow to see if any participate in the borrowing program 🙂

I order my dress without trying it! Maggie Sottero dress also!! And love it!!! I was afraid that I was not going to like it!!! But I actually loved it more than any other dresses that I actually tried on!

My thinking would be that a good bridal salon could call another one, somewhere else in the state or even in another state to borrow one for you to try on. Can you see if one of the salons will do that for you?

Let us know how this pans out! Hopefully you’ll get to try on this gorgeous dress!

Could you try on similiar maggie dresses? i think the beauty of maggie dresses is that they ultimately kinda fit the same within the same style. You could probably wing it by trying on different dresses that have those elements to see how they work. I think I’d avoid that style with the prominent skirt part if you have wide hips and/or a short torso. It could accentuate you unflatteringly OR, worse, draw the eye straight to your crotch =].
Some salons, for like $50, will chage you that to bring in a dress for you to try on, but it goes towards the dress if you buy it.
Does the Maggie company have a customer service line? you could possibly find out which stores in your general area stock that one dress, then you might have to make a trip otu of it!

yes! i found a dress i knew i had to have, but it was no longer in stores and had been discontinued. after a lot of googling, i found it in a shop in california (rins bridal in san carlos), and they let me buy it with the option to return it for $100 fee. it wound up being too small so i did have to use that option! i wound up finding someone else who had it for sale in my size though! good luck!

Priscilla has a very similar dress with rouching, dropped waist, and a bubble hem. Obviously nothing is ever good enough when you have seen what you really want already, but it might be worth looking at…http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?search=4019&sfid=50515&f=’ defer=’defer
