Rin’s Bridal in San Carlos has a lot of sample sales and trunk shows. She even has a coupon for $150 off any samples.  http://www.rinsbridal.com/

If not, don’t overlook David’s Bridal. They have a LOT under $1000.

If you do find a designer dress you like, you can always look on Preownedweddingdresses.com, ebay, oncewed.com, etc for a never worn one. I got mine for $100 that was never worn from someone who cancelled their wedding and just wanted the dress gone.

I second that you check out David’s Bridal, especially the one in Milpitas. It’s much bigger than the San Jose location and despite their reputation they have a LOT of seriously gorgeous dresses! if you catch them during a sale that could also knock off $100 or so.

Also check out Bay Area Bridal. They might not have as much, but I was still able to try on quite a few dresses (a lot of Mori Lee) there in my $800 range.

Also don’t forget to look at bridesmaid dresses. Depending on the style you like you might be able to find one for much cheaper that route as most bridesmaid dresses are available in white or ivory.

I went to Emerald City Gowns in Berkeley. It is a second-hand bridal shop and was a great experience. The lady showed me a me a ton of dresses under my budget and NEVER made me feel shitty for not wanting to spend over $1000. I left with a $600 dress. Highly recommend.

 David’s Bridal in Colma.

Also, I saw a eDressit in San Francisco, downtown. I haven’t been in there but there’s an eDressit website

Definitely not designer but probably cheaper than bridal salons…
