FH and I are TTC and are discussing baby names. I know, it’s so early but I’m am an OCD planner and have to have everything prepared way ahead of time. Though we defnitely don’t hate the names the other has chosen, we can’t seem to agree on just one. I was hoping to hear your guys’ favorites from them!
For a boy, the middle name would be Reid (family name). He likes Weston and I like Branson. My step son has a name that ends in “son” as well – are the “on”s too much together? So Weston Reid or Branson Reid.
For a girl, the middle name would be Lynne (to honor two family members and my best friend). He likes Avery Lynne but I think that it’s a very common name. I like Clarissa Lynne (Clary for short) or Freya Lynne, leaning more towards Clarissa.
What’cha guys think? Help us decide which names are best for each gender! The last name is a “mc…” one.

Not going to lie. I like Weston Reid. For one, I like the sound of it. For two, I love the nickname Westy (knew a person with it).
I’ve never liked the name Clarissa. So my top choice would be Freya followed by Avery.

I like Branson and Avery/Clarissa. They’re unusual without being over the top.

I prefer your husband’s choices by far. Weston Reid sounds nice together, and Wes is a good nickname.
Really don’t like Clarissa at all. It sounds very 90s, like Clarissa Explains It All.

I’m with your SO on name choices for both a boy and girl. Not a fan of Branson, Clarissa (Clary) or Freya.

All I think of when I hear Branson is that place in Missouri…so I’d lose that one. I like Weston though. I like Clarissa as well. I feel like Avery has become a really popular girls name lately.

I really like Weston Reid. I’d keep brainstorming on girls’ names (you have plenty of time!) — the only one I like is Avery, but yeah, I think it’s quite common lately. Lynne is a wonderful choice for a middle name though!

lol I think of Downton Abbey’s Branson 😛

I like Weston (Wes) a lot and do not like Branson at all.
I like Freya, but don’t think it goes with a Mc last name. I think Avery is too popular and Clarissa is too dated. I’d go back to the drawing board with girls’ names.

My friend has a little one named Wesley, and I love Weston too. I prefer Avery over Clarissa.

Ha! I’ve never seen that show but I heard it’s good.

branson is a great name. weston…im not that crazy about. i like the name eloise for a girl but sorry op, none of your girl names

I don’t care for Branson very much, though the nickname Bran is very nice. Weston would definitely be the winner of the two. Wes is a very wonderful nickname and Weston Reed is an amazing name! Very strong and dignified.
As for the girls, I think I like Clarissa just because it’s so unheard of and not very common. Avery is very nice as well, but compared to each other, Clarissa (nn Clary) wins in terms uniqueness.

We are a very “country” farm life family, and both FH and I have super unique names (ie. I’ve seen one other in the city with my name, and no one with his). I’ve never met anyone else with his step sons name either, but I had heard it before. That is why I chose the uniqueness of them all.
That is definitely where I got Branson from! HAHAHAH
As for the comments about Clarissa being outdated, that is why I like it. FH likes unique but not too out there (ie. child won’t be picked on, but no one at school would have the name), and I love unique “fairytale” type names for girls and “cowboy” names for boys. Any suggestions?
