    @kittymama426:  White does go with everything! I voted for the Mikasa because it has more visual interest.

    I have Portmeiron and it clashes with everything. My dinner parties are always ruined!!! Bah-ha-ha. No… I just do the reverse. Everything besides my dinnerware is solid or complimentary.

    I don’t think you can go wrong with either of your options!

    Honestly, the Sur La Table set is a little drab. White is great, I totally agree.

    Maybe the opposite of helpful, but depending on where you’re registering, Macy’s has an entire “White Dinnerware” section. Might give you some ideas 🙂

    Agree with @LilRhodyGem:  the Mikasa plates are far more interesting to look at and I think would serve to dress up a table quite nicely.

    For what it’s worth, I registered for Sur La Table for my wedding and most people had ZERO idea of what it was. I eventually shut down the registry and put similar items up on our Crate and Barrel registry instead!

    I guess I’m boring because I voted for the Sur La Table set. I like the simplicity of it.

    But I think the Mikasa set sounds like it’s more “you.” It’s quite pretty, and I think it’d be a great choice.

    @ImmaBee:  I like the Sur La Table one too! I prefer simple, clean lines.

    I think the Mikasa set is a lot prettier and can be dressed up a lot better than the SLT set (: I really love the Mikasa set.

    @ImmaBee:  Me too!

    I think because it is so simple you can mix in any of the plates you have collected and it isn’t going to clash.

    I’m another vote for Mikasa. Its more visually interesting and therefore I think it will pair well with Anthro stuff. The SLT set looks like what you’d see at any run of the mill cafe.

    I feel like the Mikasa fits the bill for everything you wanted your dishes to do!

    The SLT dishes might feel a bit blah for more formal entertaining… there’s only so much dressing up that you can do on a basic white plate (this is coming from captain minimalist-plain-white-plate lover!)

    PLUS, with the Mikasa items you will be able to match accesories to it better – even if it’s not from the same collection: if it’s slightly ornate and white no one will question it.

    AND I feel like the Mikasa plates would be adorable as a mix-and-match with random Anthropologie and vintage plates!

    We have the Mikasa Antique White set and we love it. It works great for both casual and more formal occasions.
