I’ve got DISH – love it.  Picked it over the other companies because other friends had it, were happy with their service, etc.  I don’t know how I ever lived without a DVR!!  I did get sticker shock when the HiDef was added – but it’s totally worth it.

I also have dish network- never had a problem or complaint with it! I switched from Comcast, so I think I would have been happy with anyone over them though!

I have been a DirecTV subscriber for almost 10 years now and love it. No complaints at all. I used to work in the cable industry so I’m pretty familiar with all of the options and would not choose cable unless forced!

u-verse =]

we had directv. it was ok; but you only get pretty basic channels for their gold option and they didn’t have the football channels dh wanted. Uverse is $20/monmth cheaper too…WITH the DVR and hi-def channels. so many channels.

I think U-verse is the best option, but it’s not yet available in many places. I soooo just did research on this! I think we’re going with Dish or U-Verse depending on where we move!!

I agree with ejs4y8, u-verse is definitely the best and I’ve had both dish and directv (and comcast, yuck). I don’t think I’ll ever be able to survive without DVR now though!

Love DirecTV.  I switched over to Charter when I moved because Darling Husband didnt like DirecTV but Charter was awful.  I found out we could get DirecTV in our building so we switched back over.  The only bad thing is if you want and HD-DVR you have to pay $200 for it (I think right now its $99) but you also have to sign a 2-year contract.  I was ok with it but Darling Husband was against it.  But Ive had them for many many years and love them.

You have to shop around. I have Direct and never had to pay for my HD DVR. We also live out in the boondocks and never once even in our massive blizzard last week have issues with signal quality. Never an interupption. Now their customer service, installers, tech people suck, are dumb and have no clue or are nice. My Darling Husband called me at work the day they installed bc the guy swore he could not install the box to the tv that was mall mounted without running a cord down the wall in ugly sight. I came home and had to show the dude how to do it. Needless to say he was a tad embarrassed. Thats what you get for argueing with me! LOL But everyone we know out here that has dish, does not get all the channels we get and have terrible reception. But Dish is cheaper but I take quality of price anyday.

I have DirecTV…the service is good. They spent hours installing everything for free and did really good work they had to drill holes outside the house and stuff.  Signal is pretty good, but has gone out for 15 minutes or so twice this week with heavy winds and rains (in San Diego!).  One channel had some sound issues, but they fixed it.

In general I like it and have no plans to switch.

my roommates and i have cable, and my fiance and his roommate have directtv. i personally would pick cable any day. they pay way more for the same thing we have. also, any time there’s bad weather their picture gets really messed up. we’ve missed important parts of sports games, movies, and tv shows because of their directtv. i personally would never get it.

ps: they randomly increased their bill one month by like $20, and when they called to get it fixed they couldn’t understand one person. it seemed like no one spoke english. plus they kept getting transferred. it took DAYS to get it fixed.

I think Im the opposite from people here – we pay WAY less for a better package from DirecTV than we did for cable (Charter).  Charter was charging us about $115 a month for a basic package (most channels but no movie channels and 2 HD DVRS) and the connection always went out or skipped around.  DirecTV is now $85/month for more channels than we had from Charter including some movie channels and WAY more in HD (only about 5 channels I watch were in HD on Charter and at least 20 are in HD on DirecTV).

Also, one of our channels that was part of the package wasnt working properly so Darling Husband called an automated line, entered our phone number and some other info and without having to talk to an actual person, the channel was fixed and working again!
