I ran the regular Disney Half Marathon this past January with some friends (complete with pink polka dot tutus!) and had a blast!

It was my 4th half marathon and I still don’t consider myself a runner and am really slow (my fastest of the 4 halfs was 2 hours and 50 minutes).  Really though, I think finishing is more of a mental thing than a physical thing (unless you are going for time or not wanting to walk or something).

Good luck!

if I can do it, you can do it ๐Ÿ™‚ I HATED running but then I decided to try a 5k one time to challenge myself with something new.. long story short, I’m running my 2nd marathon tomorrow. I think the disney races are good ones for novice racers because there’s a different type of atmosphere from your average race. lots of stuff going on to distract you when things get tough.

@Genna915: I signed up for the 2011 Disney Princess Half Marathon in October 2010. At that time, I was a couch potato and never worked out. Like you, I was a bit scared! But I did it! I committed to a training schedule and ran for the majority of the race (I walked for 1-2 minutes every mile so I could drink water and Gatorade). If I could do it, then so can you! As others have pointed out, it’s a really fun race, and a lot of runners don’t take it super seriously. I had a blast that weekend with my girlfriends. I highly recommend it ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck!!! I never considered myself a runner and could not run for 2-3 minutes last fall, I did couch to 5k and now running 3 miles straight no problem at about an 11 min mile pace. Love those shoes!!
