I think the best prices I found were using 40 or 50% off coupons at Micheals.

I’m going somewhat blank, but I think it was 5 per pack.

@clemster:  I did just one per table.  I didn’t want to overkill on them, and honestly if I’d have had more then that, I would have ended up with a lot of unused cameras.

@dodgercpkl: just curious, how did the pictures come out? I want to do disposable cames because i want to dan “I Spy” thing, but I’m afraid the pics will suck.

The pictures most likely will suck, I’m afraid.  I’ve seen a lot of people use them, and pay lots of money to develop the film.  And I’ve never seen anyone get good photos out of them.  We just set up a photo sharing site, and asked people to upload their digital pictures, and got several hundred photos that way.

Yeah, I think it’s 5 per pack for the ones from Michaels. I’ve seen brides before say that they would rather just put the money towards the photographer, but you don’t necessarily need to actually DEVELOP all of the film. Some places let you get just a CD of all pics for about $2 a roll, I believe. Then if there are any good oens, you’re not sitting on a lot of potentially crappy pictures, and you can just pay to devleop the ones you want. Just an idea 🙂

@WineAndCupcakes:  Yup that’s what I did.  I have a great photo printer at home so I knew that I would be happier having them on disk to tweak a bit and print out what I wanted to rather then have prints made of everything (including stuff I didn’t want).

I had some photos not come out at all, but overall I was very pleased with what I got.  I got some pictures that my photographer didn’t catch, and people seemed to have a great time with them!  I was also very lucky in that people treated them responsibly (even the kids!) and I had very few pictures of say, nose hairs or armpits or the floor.

I’ve posted these before, but here’s I put together for the parents scrapbooks from our disposable cameras:

And a link to all of the pictures – including the not so good, but not including the blanks:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157625083544823/

They’re $29.99 a pack (5 per pack) at michaels. With the 40% off coupon you get a $12 discount. I’ve been going every week; I need 4 packs. 1 camera per table.

@dodgercpkl: glad to hear you had a lot come out great! I love the idea of doing disposable cameras just because (like you mentioned) there will be moments the photographer will miss, not to mention any kind of “I Spy” game. I was on the fence about doing this, but now I might be in the yes side! Thanks 🙂

We did this at the engagement party we had and NONE of the pictured turned out.  So for the wedding I’m planning on people bringing their digital cameras and putting the pics on facebook!

Okay, so just for grins and giggles, I did a google search of “disposable cameras” and found this link: http://www.customcameracollection.com/195cameras.aspx They’ve got some great deals, and the cameras are cute, they have specialy designed covers. Plus they’re cheap. The ones from Michaels are about $3.60 each when purchased with the 40% coupon, some of these cameras on the site are in the $2 range! Oh, and you can customize with a pic of the two of you, your ring, etc! (though those are like $4 something each, so not exactly cost effective against Michaels)
