I think you would be fine to use the disposables, especially since you are having a smaller, less formal reception. Besides, it sounds like you found some really nice looking disposables, it’s not like your using plain white paper plates. Do what feels right to you and works for your budget.

I agree with everyone who said bamboo ware!! or birch ware, it’s what we’re using lol

Dittoing the bamboo ware. I only think it’s ‘tacky’ if you’re throwing out hundreds of plastic plates in the end! If you can recycle your disposable cups and plates (I can see a cutely decorated recycling bin…) or buy the compostable varieties of one-use utensils, cups, and plates, then I think it’s fine for the formality level of your reception, and definitely makes sense.

We used disposables (we upgraded to the nicer looking ones) and nobody even noticed. They were all too busy visiting and dancing.

Oh, and if you don’t want to use disposable plates, you might want to look at these or these, on sale at BB&B for $10 for a set of 12 dinner plates.

not tacky. sounds very fitting to your venue =)

Yes, I would normally think that disposables are tacky for weddings, but for your venue I think disposables would be just fine!

GO FOR IT. Especially if the reception is not so formal.

We will be using compostable disposables. Everything from the cups to the plats to the flatware. We’re going as eco friendly as possible with ours.
