Just a few more weeks until my BIG DAY and Fiance and I have been asked by our photog to have some locations on retainer in case we get rained out. We’re getting married at Archeo Trattoria in Toronto’s Distillery District and need some nearby spots that would be “open” to having us do some photos there if need be. We have our permit for Distillery, so that part isn’t an issue. Any suggestions from past Distillery brides?
Also, suggestions for bride & groom outdoor portrait locations (assuming weather cooperates) in Distillery, other than just in the street, under the big sign, as I’ve seen in lots of pics?! Looking for “hidden gem” type of locations.
Lastly, we’ll be doing “first look” pics… do you bees think they should be done at our hotel, prior to us heading to Distillery, or should I arrange to meet Fiance at Distillery and have the “first look” pics done there?
Thanks so much! xox

MDolly: Hi again! 🙂
In terms of locations around the Distillery you can just walk around the district and you will see lots photo ops. There is a small parkette across the street (Parliament) that may be nice for some green space it you are looking.
For indoor locations you could try the St. Lawrence Market, The King Edward Hotel (there is a charge), Any subway station could provide a cool background, Balzac’s Cofee in the Distillery is a cool place also.
Perhaps narrow down your locations and then figure out where to do your first look. Sometimes it comes down to logistics and what is easiest and sometimes it comes down to making sure you get a shot somewhere that is really important to you.
We are getting married at Archeo in August. I actually recently switched our photography location to my parents house because the backyard is on the Scarborough Bluffs and provides more greenery than the red bricks of the Distillery. Plus I feel that since we will be there for the ceremony and the reception it is better to get some alternative scenery beforehand.
Congrats and enjoy your day!!! Can’t wait to see your recap!!!!
