Whoa!!! That would way creep me out. HOWEVER, playing devils advocate here and going entirely off a lifetime movie I saw once (so not very reliable), a mom took pictures of her kids playing around in the bathtub or something and was turned into child services and accused of child pornography. So it COULD be something like that. Or it could be something really sick and terrible, I’m sorry that even came up. What does it say on the sexual offenders website? It should tell you the degree of the crime but not the details.

I think to be a registered sex offender you have to be convicted of something, not just accused of something.

I don’t know what I’d do.  I’d probably lean towards not using him due to the amount of children we’re having at our wedding.  But, on the other hand, maybe he’s a decent guy now just trying to make his way in life.  You don’t really know.

In this case I don’t think it’s out of line to bring it up to him and see what he says.

Hmmm….I really don’t see how anything to do with child pornography can be blown out of proportion.  The only thing that I can think of that would even remotely been not so creepy is if he slept with a minor…even then, it would only be less creepy if he were young (18-early 20’s) and she was 17 or 18…even then, that wouldn’t be listed as child pornography.  I would stear clear of this guy.

Well at least you found out after and not before, I would have been totally creeped out to find out something like that days before your wedding.

Iguess ther’s nothing you can do about it but you friend should get to the bottom of it before it has an effect on his business.

Your friend (the DJ) needs to bring this up to the guy.  Just tell him the truth, “one of my clients that I recommended you to did a background check and brought this my attention”.  Your friend should give the videographer the opportunity to explain himself, and give details of the situation.  I can’t really think of a situation where a conviction for child pornography was a “petty offense”.. but maybe this is the one time.  If the videographer refuses to give details (which is his right) or confesses to something that makes your friend uncomfortable, he should cut ties with him.  Although the referrals are nice you can not have a business relationship with someone whose ethics and morals you question.

I was thinking maybe a brothers or a sisters kids?  Like he was doing a video for them or something as a project and didn’t quite think it through.

And of course I’ve heard of the 18 year old with a 15 year old example or even 16 in some states (some as long as the difference is no more than two years it’s still okay in others it is still not) Which is also kinda silly…but a parent could get upset.

@Jenn23 This is a totally sucky situation. I’m sorry you have to deal with it. Is there anyway you can find out more info? Or have the DJ speak to him? I don’t know if it would really solve anything for you, but at least you friend could seperate his buisness with that guy so that he didn’t get a bad name along with him.
