I would do a compromise and put pictures on the ads with the black and without. I love the dress as is and probably wouldn’t look at it with the black (if I were looking). It’s easier to be able to tell someone you can take the black off rather than having to ask brides to imagine it with the black if that’s they’re taste. Maybe the initial ad picture (used to entice lookers) should have it without the black but then the inside of the ad could have pics of both. Would more pics work?

I voted to remove the black…. However I LOVE the way a nice colourful belt looks on a wedding dress and I think a black or other boldly coloured belt would look gorgeous on that dress because of the simplicity of it.  It’s a classic dress and a belt would be a way you could personalize it and make it yours.  The only thing I don’t like about that black belt is how thick it is.

If it were me I’d 100% wear a belt with it, just not sure if it would be that particular one.

@bohosioux:  If you can find a dress form to take the pics of it on that might help too. You are so tiny it might make people who could fit it think they can’t

I think maybe I misunderstood when I read what you originally posted…

So are you selling this dress and just trying to figure out how to advertise it? With or without the belt and what will sell it faster?

Keep the dress intact, and advertise as is. If you’re worried about the darkness, try to adjust the contrast in a photo editing program or something. After all, removing the sash may lower the price the dress would fetch.

Honestly, one of the reasons you might not be getting any takers is that you look SO TINY in that dress. Most brides probably are seeing the pics and thinking “There’s no way I could fit into that!” even if they could. Are you displaying the size prominently in the headline of your listing?

As far as the black goes, it’s beautiful, but it might be contributing to the illusion of Scarlett O’Hara waist 😀

@bohosioux:  I voted for remove but I think even with the black, a picture on a form would help people visualize it on themselves better

Have you searched for a pic of the dress online with the black removed?

@bohosioux:  That’s tough. I really like it with the black myself.
