I wanted to share my ideas for my DIY beach wedding centerpieces. We
are renting a beach house and are having the reception there so not
only do I have to decorate the dinning area but also all the other
parts of the house we will be using during the event! And our cater suggested spliting the reception among all the different floors of the house. So like having dancing and the cocktail hour on a seperate floor as dinner. I love the idea but that means more decor!
The home has these amazing;y large dinning tables and chairs with beautiful dark wood that I do not want to cover up entirely with linens because I love
them so much. Therefore I am thinking about using table runner’s down
the center with silver charger plates under each place setting (I should say my colors are blue, ivory and silver accents and I’m in love with blue hydrangeas and blue orchids). Here is a mockup if the centerpiece ideas I have:
I plan on doing each table with either the starfish, clam shells, or scallop shell votive holders and creating an ichibana vase out of them with orchids (as in the center image but calla’s was all I had on hand). I want to do the center vase on the runner as it is on the first image with one of the ichibana’s on either side (where the starfish are) and then one of the large sea urchin vases on either end with another hydrangea. That way it will span the entire length of the table and still have some height variation. The runner also has some shimmer to it which will reflect the light from the candles.
My other idea for the other floors is to use some of the large center hydrangae vases and these (but with orchids):
I also got these thin floating tealight holder to put in the pool! They look like this but just imagine like fifty of them in the pool at sunset:
FH is half Japanese and it just so happened that my favorite flower is orchids and while looking for a way to display them in all their beauty i cam across the ichibana vases. Also when we first started dating we folded 1000 cranes and strung them together, together. As per tradition our Senbazuru shall make the journey from PA to NC to be at our wedding (just trying to figure out how to display it!)
Here is a picture of all the little cranes:
What do you think of my ideas? Is anyone else not covering their tables with linens?
