I think its really pretty! Will they be matched or mismatched bird cages?

I think you have a great start but it looks a little incomplete or disconnected or something, I can’t quite place what it looks like but I will think of the right word.

It gives me the feeling that it isn’t quite finished, like whoever was putting up the decor was rushed and didn’t arrange it properly maybe?

Maype it will look nice with more of them near each other. It is a great start but I think you can make it better.

I agree with PP. Even with the candle I feel like it won’t quite look finished. Are you using just one pillar candle? What about some tealights or votives around the bird cage?

May I ask where you found you’re birdcages? I’m doing a birdcage centerpiece too but using flowers instead of a candle.

What about hanging candles from the inside of the bird cage, and a little bud vase on top of the books?  I love your idea, very pretty!

How about some green moss in the base of the birdcage or some pretty colored thick ribbon woven through the top? I don’t know about the candle to be honest- are you lighting it? It just doesn’t seem like a functional option, like why would there be a candle inside a birdcage? Maybe you can also use the birdcage for your table number, like download a template for table numbers from Martha Stewart, print in on cardstock and place it at the top? Just thinking out loud…

Another idea, how about placing the books upright against the birdcage and getting some kind of cool vintagey bookend?

I think it looks unfinished because books and birdcages have nothing to do with each other…  I get the vintage idea, but maybe just the birdcages, with candles etc around them?  Or if you really really love the book idea, buy a bunch of Maurice Sendak’s Nutshell libraries and use those as placecards.  Expensive, but it would be cute.

@jilly1020:  That’s what I thought. I got 7 from there too…just interested in other places to get some for a little more variety (I’ll have 28 tables)

As PP mentioned…the bird cages and the books don’t really have much to do with each other. But if that’s what you love, then that’s what you love. If you’re not dead set on the mock centerpiece you posted, maybe you can do 2 different centerpieces. On half the tables do the bird cage centerpieces with little votives or little nests with eggs around it and on the other tables a ‘book’ theme with the books and candles or other things that go with it.

@little_cricket:  Try looking at Michaels. I found all my birdcages there. In my area they are part of the spring set that is starting to clearance out though. Some of the stores near me still had a decent variety (I think I have 4 different styles). Hopefully they may have some left where you are at.
