So, I mentioned in a previous post that I made my own Bridesmaid or Best Man tanks. I was looking and lusting over the adorable little tank tops on the bridal websites and thinking how adorable they would be, but I couldn’t make myself spent $20+ on a tank top. No way. So, I decided to make my own! They turned out adorable!
Here we go.
-Iron and ironing board
-Shirts! (I got mine from Wal-Mart for $3.50/shirt)
-Iron on transfers (can be bought all over. Ebay, amazon, bridal websites. Mine came from http://www.jubileerhinestones.com/ for $3.99/transfer)
-Tailors chalk or pencil
Total Cost: $7.49 per shirt x 3 shirts= $22.47 (less than you would pay for one!)
Step 1: Lay out the shirt, iron the front flat and insert something in between the layers of the shirt to keep the adhesive from seeping through. I used a sheet of plain printer paper.
Step 2: Measure out the center of the shirt and where the transfer needs to be placed. Mark this with the chalk or pencil so that your transfer will be straight.
Step 3: Peel the backing off of the transfer and lay it on the shirt. You can peel it off and re-stick it to straighten it really easily.
Step 4: Iron it on! You should hold the iron on the transfer for at least 10 seconds to make sure the rhinestones stick properly.
Step 5: Let the shirt cool off and then peel the plastic off! Then you have a finished shirt. I made all 3 in less than 20 minutes.
A damp rag will take the chalk off of the shirt easily.
Thats my tutorial for a really quick, easy project that can save TONS on Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts! Like I said, I made all 3 shirts for less than what they charge for one on more major bridal websites such as The Knot and Advantage Bridal.
Hope this helps!
