I have found a bouquet I am in love with… red poppies with roses (however, I’d like to find a substitute for the roses as I am not a fan). Our wedding colors are blue, silver, and red. The flowers being the only red… I love how the middle is darker and they are just gorgeous! Anyways, no florists in my area sell poppies because of the seeds, yada yada. Sad day 🙁 We wanted to do real flowers, but I like the poppies very, very much and will forego the real flowers for that. The problem is, I’ve looked and looked on silk wedding boquet sites and I cannot find any that have the poppies! So, I’ve come to the realization that if I want that, I will have to do it myself. This makes me very nervous, because I have done only very few DIY and all the stuff I am doing is relatively simple… but the bouquets are making me nervous since they will be such a HUGE part of the wedding (in all the pictures!).
So, I’ve attached a picture of what I am going for. How hard will this be to make myself? Any advice or tips would be GREATLY appreciated 🙂

It’s not that hard. Be patient when arranging the poppies so you get a nice full round shape. Print your inspiration pic for reference and post it on the wall so you know when to incorporate the berries. Have a friend check it for shape. Another trick is to take pictures of it before you finalize anything. It is so much easier to put things in perspective in a picture.
There are lots of tutorials online.

I believe those are actually anemones (not poppies). You may be able to buy them from a local florist or flower market, or you can order them wholesale. Fifty Flowers carries them and I’m sure a bunch of other online flower wholesalers do as well:

You guys are awesome! Thanks so much for the links! 🙂 It looks pretty simple to make them, but it just makes me nervous. I will probably go to Michaels or JoAnne’s and get some cheap ones just to practice first.

These are expensive, but they look so awesome. They should be able to custom make a bouquet for you

Hi eliseemma! How did this ended? Did you get your red poppy bouquet?
I am in the same situation as you are… I love anemones and in Mexico they don’t import white ones and specially not in my wedding date, so I had been doing some try outs and I made the flowers in fabric and then assembled my bouquet… I am still not sure, as they are not natural and that worries me a lot. I found it very pretty when I look at it and make me proud of it, but I still think it is made of fabric… what do you think? If you like it I can show you how to do the flowers… easier than it looks (it will take you a couple of days of work though) but I think they are quite similar…
