My mom and I made a trip to Michael’s yesterday and we saw a couple bow makers. We were considering making bows to put on the pews in the church because that’s pretty much the only decorating we are allowed. Has anyone had any success with bow makers? My mom and I aren’t sure if we would even be able to figure it out because we are so far from DIY-ers it’s not even funny. Any input would be awesome! Thanks!

Sometimes if you go to Michael’s they have classes on how to make bows, and it is REALLY easy. That way you don’t need a bow maker, because you would fill that spot! Bows are easy and fast, I wish I could show you how, I will look for articles that explain it, and get back to you…

You can make bows without a bow maker, but if you use a bow maker it will help you keep the loops even. I have a bow maker that I probably got from Michaels and I do use it. The directions that came with mine were very easy to follow and it also came with a CD that shows how to make different kinds of bows and is very easy to follow. If you decide to get one, I suggest opening the box up to look at the directions to make sure they are easy to follow. You don’t have to purchase the most expensive one. They are all basically the same.

I’m using ribbon on my pew decorations and so far the most affordable place I’ve found has been walmart. I would never have thought to check there but it was half the price that it was at Michaels or the other craft stores. Just thought I’d share the tip. 🙂
