(Closed) DIY Brides-How did/are you tackling storage?

I live in a small apartment, FI lives in a separate apartment in another state and our wedding is taking place on the other side of the county. I too am having storage issues! So far it all fits into my closet, but i think the space under my bed and on my floor will become valuable over the next two months! haha

 

I’d also love to hear others’ tips!

I stored everything in boxes with labels and instructions/pictures on each box.  Here’s a sample label (for my sweet n salty buffet).

I too have bed risers and using the space under my bed, for now. As more stuff gets done, I will need more space.

I, thankfully, have a nice big walk-in type closet and that’s where I keep everything. The only downside–i’m almost out of room! I try to do a tetris-type of thing so I can compact it and organize it the best way possible without damaging anything.

@wabanzi:  Hey date twin!  I’m glad we have an extra bedroom that is relatively empty (only desks, no bed in there)… it is quickly filling up with wedding stuff 🙂

I’m storing it at my grandma’s house where I’m getting ready that day. She’s a saint.

I’m trying to design my DIY things to be compact, or at least take it into consideration.

We haven’t started on the big/major stuff yet, but I expect we’ll be storing it at my FMIL’s since we’ll be moving to the second floor of her house right before the wedding.

I plan on keeping everything neatly in numbered boxes with instructions AND a map of where it goes within the space. On the day of, I’ll just assign people tasks by box number.

@housebee:  I love your diagram. It’s more fool-proof than I had considered. I think I will be designing mine this way for my DOC! Thanks for sharing.

I think all of our stuff fit into a storage tote, a reusable bag, and a small box. I had the runners ironed and thrown over a hanger hung on a closet door, and the rest in the storage tote/boxes stacked next to my desk. We did have our ceremony backdrop, but that was stored at MIL’s house.

@wabanzi:  Our wedding will be at my parent’s house in NH, while we live in San Francisco, so I am just shipping things as they are completed. My parents have about 10 times as much storage space as we do, so they have plenty of room for it all.
