My fiance is doing caligraphy for our Save-The-Date Cards and invite envelopes! He took a class in it in middle school and so all we did was get him a slanted marker and let hi practice a bit. They won’t look professional, but I’m sure it’ll be fine!

A slant tip marker makes the difference.

@Coral99:  I don’t have a photo of how mine turned out.  I never took any caligraphy classes or anything, but I’m sure there are PLENTY of tutorials online.  These markers are relatively cheap and they really look nice…they even just fancied up my printing.

I’m planning to DIY the calligraphy for our invites as well. Wrote the addresses for our Save-The-Date Cards and that looked like this, without a template:

These are practice runs for the envelopes we’ll use for our confetti, once again – just free hand:

For the final versions, my idea was to either do it the way you suggested or print it on a normal paper, then trace it on the envelopes using carbon paper.

I did this, but I just bought some calligraphy fountain pens and used my normal handwriting. It looked great.  I didn’t care about it being super fancy, though.

Thank you! When we exit the church… I think. Not 100% sure yet. Another option is that the guests toss it as we leave the reception, depends a little on what the church is ok with.

I did my own calligraphy for my STDs!! It was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed doing it… and got lots of compliments! Here’s a sample:

I did a fake sort of DIY calligraphy on our envelopes – I just wrote in a large cursive style, and then drew wee lines and coloured them in on every “down stroke” with a thick-nib metallic pen

You can see results here:

I can’t get it to go the right way, sorry 🙁

I did my own free-hand, though I don’t seem to have any pictures. I bought a slant-tip paint marker from Hobby Lobby (actually, I bought 3) and I practiced a ton. I ordered at least 50 extra envelopes and I would do them over if I wasn’t satisfied. It was a tedious, multi-week project, but I received so many compliments on it. I think people liked receiving them.
