We are doing all the flowers including bouquets. I am making the boutinieres out of fabrid beforehand. Should be fun to do them all!
doable if you have HELP. i’m doing my own as well. go to fiftyflowers.com, even if you dont use them, you can click on the flower(s) you like and scroll down and it lists directions as to what day they should be delivered (so they can “wake up” and open up, not too soon, not too late) and which is best for which season you want. you can also gauge prices and search by color or flower type. also if you have any questions you can call or email and they’re pretty helpful (haha i’ve already done all this and have not placed my order) lots of research and other bee’s tutorials has helped me be more confident in my decision and get organized! good luck!
thanks Bee’s you guys are the best.. now my new question..
I was origianlly going for all same color red roses with Cala Lillies…
but i notice alot of prides use different colors even if it isn’t in the colors.. i was wondering should i use different reds? or stick to one solid red?
It really can go both ways. I think that the flowers I always gravitate towards are the ones that have many tones and shades of the same color and maybe one contrasting color to make it pop. So if you wanted to do red and white, maybe take a shade darker and lighter of the red. Also if you think in terms of value, red and white equal black and white so adding in shades of gray will make the contrast less stark and more subtle if that s what you want.
Another thought is to add in various tones of red, a darker wine red, a bright cranberry, a softer rose, and any others on the red family. You could also do the same with the white by adding in some cream.
You could also add in some burnt oranges and darker persimmon colors to add in variety.
What are you doing for your greens? This wouldd be a great place to add in conrast.
Just a few thoughts!
@Miss Watermelon that is what i was thinking or really… i wanted to add purple in with the red.. but i dont know i for sure want red roses and the purple flowers i was looking at weren’t roses 🙁 and im not sure how they would look together.. but his was my newest inspiration.. (note it might change by next week) LOL i have been all over the place with my ideas.. a month ago i almost went away with the red and went with purple but then went back to red because i love red roses.. ahh
Im not a fan of too much greenery.. but maybe something basic
This is a picutre someone posted on a different thread
That looks pretty! You should go with your gut!And tell your gut to stop changing its mind. LOL! Flowers are meant to inspire and add to the beauty of the day. I think that if you go with red and purple it will be gorgeous.
@miss watermelon OMG im so indesisive about stuff its scary!! lol i think i will stick with the purple at least for the centerpieces and keep my original red roses and white calla lilies for my bouquet and let the bridesmaids have the red roses and purple for their bouquets.. I seen somewhere the Maid/Matron of Honor had a different accent then the other bridesmaids im thinking of doing that 🙂 yay!
Im telling you im blaming this site!! too many cute and different ideas! lol
Try the LA Floral district!
@kiki i need to get out there i heard the prices are really good. thanks
DIY’ing my centerpieces too! But just that. Letting the pro do the rest (large pieces and bouquets for bm’s and corsages and halos for flower girls)
I think it will be absolutely fine. A lot of people do the DIY centerpieces. And honestly I don’t think guests focus too much on centerpieces anyway, so anything you do I’m sure will be lovely…:)
I am doing DIY everything. Every single thing. My callas and roses will be from Sam’s Club. I think it will be fun! I hope to have everything else done before those final days, so the flowers will be the last task.
I am also DIYing my flowers I opted for silks….my mother actually was a silk florist but she has been too ill to do much this past year. We went to her wholesaler and I was shocked at the selection and quality of the flowers. I am doing my bouquet and my bridesmaid bouquets. Anyways these are my flowers….I JUST posted a pic in another thread…but I love them so I will post it here as well
Wow!! these are all great advices!!! =) I never thought of DIY flowers for my wedding but after reading this I really think I am going to do my own too!!! At least the bouquets~ My concern is how would I transport all the flowers? Do most wedding venues allow me to bring them and have their people set it up on the tables? How did you guys transport them? Only if I could go there the night before and set everything up!
