That sounds like an awesome idea. My Fiance and I might even steal it, this is exactly something our guests would be all about (and we are having a tiny wedding). Most occassions we get together include champagne with some kind of option add-in(s) to make whatever drink the hosts thought would be nice. So I say go for it if you think your guests would enjoy it!
Candied ginger in champagne… hmmm, I might have just found a special drink to whip up for my FI’s birthday.

@Smashing: I haven’t tried the candied ginger with champagne but I’m intrigued and might just have to do it soon. Let me know if you have an opportunity to test the recipe and what you thought of it.

But seriously, I think this would be easier to do for a smaller occasion, like a shower or the rehearsal. Or brunch the day after. It’s perfect for brunch!

While it is nice, it is certainly not formal. And if I was dressed in my fancy formal wear, I would not want to be pouring drinks or additives for myself.
