I wouldn’t use clay.  Go to a craft store and try and find something that will dry light.  I have used FIMO with nieces/nephews before and it dries lighter than clay, but it’s still pretty heavy. 

If you use clay anyways and air dry instead of using a kiln…make sure you have a really solid base or it will squish your cake.

@couawilou:  a kiln is a special oven that bakes clay at extreme high temps.

@couawilou:  polymer clays don’t require a kiln and they are much lighter.
