Wow, awesome dress for $151!

I washed mine myself in the bathtub. Just filled the bath with warm soapy water (made sure the bath was clean first!) Then laid my dress in there and gently rubbed any dirty bits (my dress wasn’t really dirty though). Then I rinsed it under the shower. Make sure to lay the dress out to dry flat on a rack or something, at least while it’s really wet, so the weight doesn’t stretch it out.

No idea about preservation though!

LaTanya :  there are some good tutorials you can google on how to wash your wedding dress. The preservation part is pretty simple – you’ll need acid free tissue paper and an archival box. The box alone is typically about $40-50. You’ll spend some time washing, stain removing, and then properly pressing/steaming the dress before packing it up for preservation. I know $250 sounds like a lot – I thought about doing my dress myself – but at the end of the day it just didn’t seem worth my time and effort to save $200. (actually to save like $125 as I got my preservation kit for $200 and I sent in 2 accessories for free)

Love your dress.  I did a trash the dress a week after the wedding, basically went swimming in the ocean in it.  Rinsed the salt off rolled it up damp and put it in the washing machine on the gentle cycle when we got home two days later. Then I hung it over the deck rail.  Can’t tell that it had been to the beach.  Its taffeta with no lace or beading.
