Hello Everyone! So I had been looking through the boards here with DIY ideas on draping because there is not a single vendor in my area that does what I want for my wedding. So then I embarked on a mission to get what I wanted, as I usually do, and look for alternatives.
I found this awesome idea of hanging draping with ceiling magnets which will preven any damage to the walls or ceilings, plus can be hung with a long extension pole. http://www.fabricdraper.com/
I found the set on eBay from a seller at a fraction of the cost of this website because I am curious to see how it works. I am going to take the plung to try it out on the ceilings at my work to see how it does. Luckily, our venue has the same drop celing that I have at work but is about 14ft. high!
It will still be rather expensive to do the draping myself, if it passes the initial test at work, but I see it as an investment opportunity. There are at least 30 weddings a year at the venue we are using because it is the largest/least expensive place in our city so I plan to market to other brides to do their draping. The only other alternative is 8ft. pipe/draping which will look a little akward with the towering 14ft. ceilings. I have been looking for a part-time job with additional income!
Question, has anyone used a system like this before? What are the pros/cons? What fabric is lightweight but provides good coverage? Any information would be helpful!
