i need some advice on flowers! i am doing DIY flower arrangements, bouquet and boutanniers (no idea how to spell that). but i dont know how many flowers to order!!!
i want to make 12 vases in large mason jars, as well as 1 bouquet for me and 5 pinned flowers for parents and fiance.
i would like to have magenta gerbera daisies, pastel pink roses, and cream roses. and maybe some lilac colored ‘stock’ flowers.
i was thinking 5 gerbera and 6 roses (3 of each color) per vase? does that sound about right?? also does anyone have any tips or youtube videos to pass on about how to create them?

Gwendolyn88: I suggest you do a trial run. Buy grocery store flowers, make up your samples and you will have a better idea how many you will need.
Do a search for boutonniere on you-tube for tutorials.

Not sure where you are planning to order from but blooms by the box has a DIY flower guide that they offer for free. They also have great customer service- call and talk them about what you are looking to create and they can guide you on how much you need to order. They have a lot of other great info on their site for those DIY-ing their flowers.

Thanks for the tip! I will check out that website.
I’m ordering from the local wholesale flower market. It’s $28.99 for 24 roses, and $9.99 for 10 gerbera daisies. I think my total order will be $200. I just need to make sure I get the ratios right!!

Gwendolyn88: Definitely do a trial run in the vases that you’re planning on using 🙂 I did a mock centerpiece and realized that I didn’t need as many flowers in it as I originally thought I would! Every container is different so figure out what works with the ones that you have.

Gwendolyn88: Go to a craft store and do a mock up with fake flowers. That’s what I did to estimate how many I needed. Also, order some extra… you’ll need them.
