Has anyone made their garter/garters? If so did you use a pattern or did you just "wing" it? I was going to just buy my garter but i have a sewing machine and i sew some so i thought i would turn here for some ideas? Any and all ideas welcome

I’m looking to DIY mine too! I know someone must have done it before – that can at least give some tips!

Totally easy to make! I made mine and you can do it in about and hour. First go to your local craft store and buy the material that you want to make it out of along with any lace, beading or other decor. You start off making the basic template of a hair scruchie. Here is a site so you can see

The only thing I did different was at the end you should sew a hem along the top of the scrunchie before you sewn the ends. Message me if you have any questions 🙂

@Soontobee- Thank you soo much! I’m assuming you just measure the elastic to the size ofyour thigh?

Thats right. Just make it slightly smaller so it does not fall off. Just not so tight that you loose circulation before the groom gets to take it off 🙂 hehe

There are a fair number of patterns for knitters, including some really simple ones.

This one’s beautiful but really difficult. I once got 3" done, and gave up:

I love the idea of making your own garter! I was actually thinking of making a bunch for a bachelorette party coming up for all the girls to wear!

Wow thanks! I loved the ones I saw on Garter Lady’s website (Etsy), but realized that, alas, I don’t want to spend $65 on something "vintage" that I could likely make myself for $10. I’m too crafty
Here’s my thoughts on the lace ones. The elastic goes on the inside, and you just do running stitches over the elastic to hold the lace in place. And it looks to me like you can buy double ended lace so it won’t fray. Then you stitch the rsatin ribbon (and i already have some at home, yay!) on the outside to cover up the elastic. Do a little bow or something, add an embellishment, and there you. Anybody post pics?
