- Wedding: April 2013
I decided to have a little bridesmaid get-together in June for my 9 girls.. everyone knows each other, but we’ve never all hung out together.. so I’m going to get some food & some wine, and have them all come over my house–plus my mom, she likes to hang out with the girls! I wanted to give them all a little gift at the get-together to thank them for coming & for being a part of our wedding. They all like wine, so I thought personalized sparkly wine glasses would be perfect! So I enlisted the help of my sister (MOH) and got to work! It was cheap (approximately $3 a glass, I’ve seen them on Etsy for $25 for 2!) and super easy!! I’ve been finding glitter every for the last week, but that’s the price you pay for DIY! I took some pictures along the way to share, and if you plan to do these for your wedding I encourage trying it yourself before spending the money on buying them already made!
11 wine glasses – $11 at Dollar Tree (excellent quality!!)
glitter – 2 1.5oz bottles, 2 different shades of purple $9 (i have TONS left over, bought way too much!) at Michael’s
Mod Podge – 1 bottle $4 at Michael’s
foam paint brush – $0.39 at Michael’s
letter stencils – $4 at Michael’s
ribbon – yellow & orange $0.50 each at Joanne’s
gift bags – 2/$1 at Dollar Tree
heart tags – free, I made them
Grand Total – approximately $35.. $3 a glass!
This is after we did the letters, we did this first so we’d be able to hold the stem while glittering them. We just taped the letter to the glass with masking tape, painted the Mod Podge on and coated in glitter, kocked the extra off & peeled the letter off.
Here is my sister Mod Podging over the glitter to help seal it..
up close shot
dangerous! lol but I wanted to get them all in the same shot
the tags I made, I just printed them and laminated them, then used a hole punch. the say their names then under it says “thanks for be my bridesmaid” “maid of honor” and my mom’s says “thanks for being the best mom ever” (she’ll cry!) and I have the wedding date on there too
Maid/Matron of Honor and mom got an orange ribbon, Bridesmaid or Best Man got yellow and I got both 🙂
They were so easy, and turned out so nice.. I’m about 95% sure I’m going to tackle this as my favor for our wedding… 150+ of them.. you can order the glasses on Dollar Tree’s website for only $1 each.. I bet it’ll only take 2 or 3 bottles of glitter, it goes a looong way.. and some Mod Podge.. a pretty cheap gift I think people will get use out of–I won’t be stenciling lettings on them, I’m going to just attach little tags to the stems w/ our names & wedding date. It’s gonna be a lot of work, but I have lots of time & lots of Bridesmaid or Best Man to help!
And lastly this is just a little chalk board I made up real quick, for our engagement pictures.. to write “save the date” on, or something cute.. I bought the chalk board at Joanne’s for $4, the little hearts for $0.29 and purple paint for $0.89.. painted the hearts, used the stencils and glittered J (our names both start w/ a j and so will my new last name) and hot glued them on.. then used the ribbon to make a handle
