I considered making my own, but decided against it. All those buttons to line up and the corset bacck kind of intimidated me, and I am an avid sewer. I was able to get the gown I wanted for less than it would have cost me to make it, so I am happy about that. I am, however, making my girls gowns. they have boning, a zipper, and lots of organza. I wish you the best and I hope to see pictures of your progress.

I made my own.  I had the opposite problem.  I wanted something very simple, with a short train, a-line cut and NOT strapless, which probably would have been pretty cheap, but I’m also picky and couldn’t find anything that I liked.  Mine turned out really well.  My pics aren’t very good though, πŸ™  Fiance took them and I don’t want to hurt his feelings by telling him that they’re bad photos but… they’re bad photos.

You can’t see, but there’s a row of pearls down the back along the zipper.  They’re really the only embellishment.  And the bodice really does fit me, it’s just wrinkled right now from being in the closet.

Advice: make a sample first in broadcloth.

Omg.  I would never have tried to make my own pattern!  I’m excited to see your pics.

That’s really pretty.  And I think a silver and white wedding dress would be beautiful and so unique.
