I found a really neat guestbook that has Capiz shells attached to the cover and some sort of spiky, feathery trim. (See the photo)
I love the way it looks but I don’t want to spend $185 on it. I already bought a plain linen album and some Capiz shell beads. Does anyone have suggestions about how I could DIY this? I don’t know what kind of trim I need or how to attach this stuff to the cover of the album.

Are your shells already on some kind of string? If not, I’m guessing you could use an awl to put a little hole in them so you could string them up (being careful not to crack them).
I would attach the stuff maybe with a little hot glue. But I would also wrap the string around to the other side of the cover- and really secure it with glue, tape or short tacks. Then I would buy some complementary paper or linen fabric and re-line the inside cover to hide the work.
Or you could totally cheat and put the picture on Etsy Alchemy and see if anyone could make it for you at a more reasonable price!

I think rosy chicklet is pretty much right. I think what you need to find though is a feathered trim (a trim with the little whispys) tie your shell beads together in groups of three and attach them onto the trim.
