Box color is sometimes unpredictable…..but you should be ok if you pick something that is cool or possibly an ash to tone down the red.  I hate saying this though but its your wedding….isn’t it worth spending the $40 to go to a stylist and have it done??

I seriously messed my hair up a week before my wedding doing this exact thing. I actually when to a salon and they did a deep cinditioning treatment for like 45 minutes and it lifted alot of the color off my hair. I would not recomend doing this yourself.

Maybe your stylist can do a “glaze” to remove the red cast?  It usually only costs $25 (even at high end salons) and it’s not permanent.  With 8 days to go, I’d be scared to DIY!

I had this happen to me once and my stylist told me that happens when you try to go from dark to lighter without bleaching it first.  I agree with others, so close to the wedding, I would probably suck it up and pay for the professional. Sorry hun :/

The only thing I would be careful of is when you do two box colors “at home color” that soon (within 3 weeks …sometimes even more) the second time you do it , it might get two shades darker than the box color you picked out. I’m a hairdresser and I can’t tell you how many women that have practically turned their hair black by doing this, it’s very unpredictable. Maybe see if theres a groupon for a salon in your area. Good luck if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

@milesbella: Well this may be an option if you are open to it but is there a cosmo school close?  The usually offer very inexpensive color services and they are supervised by instructors.  Just an idea.
