So I’m a picky person… I like my hair a very certain way and I’ve had 2 hair trials so far and both times I ended up tweaking what the stylist did into what I like more.
People tell me that I should still get a hairdresser though so that the “hair and curls last all day”… and just cuz that’s just what brides do. You get your hair done.
and MAKEUP! I feel like a clown with too much, I’ve had a makeup trial and HATED it. I’m sure I’ll look great in pics from far away, but what about how I look to my new husband as he stares into my eyes up close!??!
Anyone else doing their own hair and makeup??

I did my own makeup. I also like it a certain way and didn’t want too much on.

@AlicialovesJose: I’m all about the DIY!
I couldn’t do my own hair to save my life but I’m 100% on board with DIY make up because I too am very particular about how I look in make up…. and I also think you should look like the best version of “you” on your wedding day so if you can enhance your features for the camera and still look like you/what you see – DO IT!
I did my own make up, applied my own eyelashes, etc, etc and I couldn’t be happier to look like “me” and have not paid someone $250 to do me up like someone no one would recognize.
PS Princess Kate did her own make up as well! She’s so cool…

@Britt_RN: +1, I have sensitive skin, so I have to be careful of what I put on my face

@Britt_RN: How did it turn out in pictures?? Everyone keeps telling me I’ll look like I have no makeup on in pics

@KimmySumShuga: whoa! Princess Kate did her own!? Thats awesome! Thats going to be the new line I pull on people who question my decision 🙂

@AlicialovesJose: I wouldn’t want to be fussed with this on my wedding day. Plus, I want the make-up to look great in pictures considering I will be photographed all day. I also wouldn’t want hair that falls flat. On an important day, I would leave it to the pros.

I did my own makeup too. The onl ly tuing I changed is I went a little heavier on the blush and eye makeup. After the ceremony was over and family pics had been taken I added liquid liner. I wanted to put false lashes but forgot to practice beforehand 🙁 I wwas kind of nervous so I asked the photographer if she thought it was dark enough and she confirmed. I’m happy I look like myself on my day!

I will be doing my own make-up (although I will pay to get my hair done).

@AlicialovesJose: I’m doing my own hair & makeup. Partly because (as long as I have plenty of time & am not rushed) I really enjoy doing it and it relaxes me. We go out alot to shows at night so I get plenty of chances to try different things out. Another reason is that I’m a cheapo & don’t want to pay someone a bunch of $$ and get nothing but hairspray & bobby pins out of it, i’d rather get things I can use again & again. Also, we are going to be in Mexico for the wedding and I’m super picky with sensitive skin & just don’t want to chance either being unhappy with the styles or having a weird reaction.

I’m doing my own make-up, but there are plenty of people who have been able to do amazing things with my hair in the past and I am not one of them. So that will be done professionally.

@AlicialovesJose: It looked quite good in pictures. More on the natural side for bridal make up, but not washed out at all.
