We are having a DIY dessert table: I’m making some/friends are bringing some homemade cupcakes & cookies, store bought goodies such as Oreos, some pies, doughnuts, etc. I was talking to my Fiance the other night and I mentioned peach cobbler, and he said yes! but there has to be ice cream. Then we thought about having several flavors of ice cream with different toppings people could add. I would like to do that, but I need to figure out how to keep the ice cream from melting in August outside (inside a wooden structure with no windows, but at least the sun won’t be beating down). I was thinking I could get a large pan (like the throw-away kind & make it pretty) add ice, and stick the ice cream on top.
Do you think that would work?
Do you have any other ideas?
Should I scrap the ice cream idea altogether?

We are doing an Ice Cream Sundae bar….my family owns an ice-cream shop so it was a no brainer 🙂
We’re offering it with the dessert bar (cookies, cupcakes & cheesecake on a stick). Fiance and I each picked our favorite flavor so there will only be 2 ice-cream options. Guests will pick the “bride” or “groom” flavor and then they can DIY their toppings.
We are going to have 2 cousins serve the icecream. Since we are having an outdoor reception at the beginning of Sept not having the ice-cream melt is a concern too. I think we will leave them in my parent’s fridge (we are getting married in their backyard) then run them out and stick them in a cooler of ice.
Sorry I’m not much more help, but one more recommendation would be to check with any local ice-cream shops to see if you can buy giant tubs & toppings at reduced prices. Good luck!!

I think we’re going to just stick with vanilla and add toppings (such as crush cookies & candy bars). I’m going to go with the bucket of ice – we’ll just have to eat it fast!
