I am planning on making my invitations this weekend… the only problem that I can’t seem to work out in my head is what is the best way to secure a piece of cardstock on one side of the card to put the tiered info cards into.
I don’t need them falling apart, but I don’t know what is strong enough 🙂

@ten.ten.ten:How about some double sided tape? Or glue dots? You can find both of them at a craft store, like Michaels.

I used a gluestick on mine and then weighted them with a bunch of old yearbooks (my Fiance is a teacher) and let them dry overnight.
Word of caution – I tried double stick tape and seemed to work well but it ended up popping off the next day (after they’d been out from under the weights for some time) and then I had to redo them.
I’d say do a test run before you actually start and see what doesn’t fall apart after a day or two.

Thank you! I have no idea what I’m thinking making them myself… the save the dates took wwwwaaaayyyyy too long, I just don’t like any of the samples I have seen

I’m using Zips – it’s scrapbooking tape, which is much stronger than ordinary double sided tape. It comes as small as 1/8th of an inch too, so you don’t take up too much pocket room!

Same here – they discontinued navy blue pockets right before I was going to order. Plus I didn’t like that the only option for doing vertical invites that folded horizontally was to have the pocket on the side.
That’s what we get for being picky … specific 🙂

I ordered mine from cards and pockets. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you might want to.
I have heard that dots are the best for keeping the pockets secure. I used rubber cement to glue on my label as well as glue in the main invite.

@ten.ten.ten: I’ve heard the “lines” by zots are great for this. Easy to use and a tough adhesive for thicker mediums like cardstock — but I haven’t used them myself. They come in a roll similar to old school reinforcements for 3-holed paper.
I was initially planning to have a pocket style invite, but am changing up the design now (to my lo$$!). If anyone’s interested, I just posted a classified to sell them, they are gold (2 shades available). The listing (and story) is here: http://classifieds.weddingbee.com/topic/pocket-folder-enclosures-for-diy-invites-in-2-shades-of-gold
