So…in my infinite wisdom, and based on the beautiful work I’ve seen done by Mrs. Eagle, zagora, and mkim, I decided to try to DIY my invitations this weekend. Actually, because I am fully, painfully aware that my aspirations are often not matched by my skill level, I decided to pretend to do my invitations. I bought several types of paper, the L letterpress starter kit, ordered plates from Boxcar, and went to work.
Results. Were. Disatrous. I wish I could post pics, but I left my memory card at home. Needless to say, the ink was messy. The whole thing just looked somewhat muddy and unprofessional.
Did anyone else use a small ink base to roll out their ink? Did anyone else use different ink than what Lifestyle Crafts sells? I used that ink first. Then, when it all went wrong, I bought some block printing ink that another bee suggested. Same problem.
The ONLY thing that saved my weekend was buying the Martha Stewart scoring board. I made envelope after envelope for no reason other than I needed to feel a sense of accomplishment. lol
