Good morning ladies!
I have been planning on doing very simple DIY centrepieces, but I am starting to get nervous with all the posts about how difficult DIY flowers are. I live in Ontario, and in May there are always a TON of lilac bushes blooming all over… the sides of the roads in the country are just covered. I have been planning my whole wedding theme/colours around lilacs. So, when my grandparents and aunt heard this, they offered to go out the morning of the wedding and cut all kinds of lilacs for me.
My wedding is at Strathmere (http://www.strathmere.com) in the Inn. My inspiration for the tables is very simple, since I think the architecture and natural landscape should not be competed with. I want sort of a cross between the two arrangements shown- maybe a combination of white, light purple, and dark purple lilacs. What do you all think? Will it be simple enough that DIY will suffice? Any additional ideas?

I love lilacs! Your centerpieces will be beautiful, I’m sure. 🙂 I wouldn’t worry about DIYing them. There are lots of posts online that describe how people organized/arranged/stored/transported their DIY flower arrangements. You should be fine.
I would suggest cutting the flowers a day or two before the wedding and arranging them ahead of time. Also, make sure you figure out how many blooms you’ll need for each arrangement.

I love lilacs! Those will be both pretty to look at and smell!
I think there are many warnings about DIY flowers because they take up more time than most people think. You have people helping, so that will be nice and take some stress off of you.
Your arrangements seem simple enough where you do not need to be a florist to pull them off. Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice ladies… does anyone have any other suggestions/ideas about what might look nice? Vase types, additions (i.e., ribbons)?

Lilacs are a beautiful and somewhat old-fashioned flower.
Can you round up some milk glass vases? I think they would look lovely together. particularly at the Inn.
