I think the brighter lip looks better, too. The darker one looks more wintry/fall and somewhat depressing. The original red lip looks more fun and lively.

bohosioux :  I’m not a fan of that dark red you have…. but you do rock that red! Ugh, jelly.

Definitely stick with the brighter/lighter lip. It’s actually much more Art Deco than the dark red, which was more common during WWII. It suits your skin tone better too, imo.

Also, I can’t recommend urban decay’s setting sprays enough. I have combination skin, so I use “chill”:

It truly keeps my makeup from budging throughout the day.

And, because you asked, here’s a pic of one of my many DIY makeup test runs:

My dress is vintage 1930s, so I’m doing a pretty accurate 1930s makeup look. Just toned down a bit (I can’t wear the “rosebud” lip shape…makes me look like I have swollen lips).

I did mine! I recommend a primer / setting spray as well. I wish I had been better at reminding myself to do touchups. False lashes were also fun to wear since I’ve never worn them before and it felt special 🙂

bohosioux :  Agree with you here. I think the very first look you posted is flawless! I would go that route! (And I”m going to use your pics as some of my inspiration 🙂 )
