So…I followed Ms Rainbow’s advice on her Ace Your Face Tutorial and I bought the silica powder spheres from Coastal Scents, which is supposedly the same as HD Hi Def Powder.
I’ve been using it for my everyday makeup and it’s helped with my oiliness (you can’t use it every day).
This last weekend I decided to test out my foundation/face makeup to see how it looks in different lights — inside, outside/shade, outside/sun, and flash.
Every option looked great!
EXCEPT for when I reviewed the flash photos. I couldn’t believe it!! This is how it turned out (excuse the ridiculous face I’m making, I never meant for anyone to see this!):
I almost died laughing at myself!
I called my future sister in law who is an esthetician and she said that she saw a photo of Nicole Kidman’s makeup where a similar thing happened to her. I googled it and found this:
THANK GOD I figured this out!! DO NOT wear this stuff when you’re going to take flash pictures!!! Like I said, it looked AMAZING in sunlight and natural light but for some reason the flash makes it all reflect…I guess that’s sorta the point of “HD” but this is crazy. Needless to say, I’m not wearing this stuff anymore 🙂
I had to share!

Our photographer told us to never wear a mineral based powder or foundation for photos, anywhere, because the flash and light filters through it, showing what you see above!

Oh my gosh! I was going to wear that for my wedding! Thanks for letting me know =]

Poor Nicole looks like she got called to the red carpet while she was in the middle of baking, lol.
Good on you for testing your makeup in a bunch of different situations, though!

The ghost face effect happened to me too. I thought maybe I didn’t rub my makeup in enough when I did my DIY trial, and when I used the flash on my camera I couldn’t believe what I saw. I definitely won’t be using MUFHD on my wedding day.

@Waves2: That’s what I thought too!! I went to the mirror and rubbed my face really hard all over….took another and it was the same. Then I used a rag and lightly washed off my face and reapplied regular powder…still the same! that stuff would not come off!

LOL! All I can say is THIS is why you should always do a trial… Your eye makeup looks AWESOME though!
Here’s another one I found….
