I am doing my own makeup on my wedding day next month and I was curious to hear from other DIY brides.

Here is my products breakdown:

Foundation: Laura Mercier primer mixed with Make up for ever HD foundation and MAC Face and Body.

Concealer: Loreal Lumi for under eye, MAC longwear for blemishes, Revlon photoready powder for setting

Setting powder: Revlon photoready

Blush: NYX cream blush + NARS Orgasm powder blush

Bronzer: None. I will be doing some light contouring with NYX taupe

Highlighter: Haven’t decided.

Setting spray: NYX dewy

Brows: NYX

Eye base: Urband Decay primer, MAC Painterly paintpot, Mabeline color tattoo

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked 2 pallette

Eyeliner: A dark brown from Too Faced pallette

Mascara: Fake eyelashes plus some water proof mascara

Lips: Sephora Cream Lip stain in either mauve or a light pink. This stuff is amazing!

Question. Will Laura Mercier Radiance give off flashback?

Following this! I’ll probably be doing my own makeup, as well. Feeling kinda freaked out about it. Being hearing a TON about Laura Mercier for foundation. Will have to look into it!

sophielle:  honestly, your list sounds great! I love he MUFE HD blushes by the way. I love the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfectors (powder) for highlights.

I would try Revlon’s Balm Stain in “Honey”. It’s a really great “your lips but better” shade. It’s hydrating and feels like a balm but it lasts forever since it’s a stain. It’s like a chubby stick so it’s easy to carry around in case you want to reapply.

I’m also doing my own makeup – I have gotten my makeup done for multiple weddings before as a Bridesmaid, and I have never liked it nearly as much as me doing it myself!  It’s actually rather odd, because I do not wear much makeup on a daily basis (only for special events, but I have a lt of those in my field) – usually I just wear tinted moisturizer, concealer, a little setting powder, mascara and lip balm.

Here’s what I plan to use:

Foundation: Haven’t decided because I don’t own any foundation (except one with SPF); so I love the suggestions! I do have a mini size of hourglass primer that I love and will likely use underneath.

Concealer: Ole Hendrickson CC Eye Cream (does that count as makeup or skin care? it has a slight tint to it) Maybelline Instant Age Rewind under my eyes, I don’t really get blemishes but if I do, I’ll use Estee Lauder doublewear.

Setting powder: Maybelline Fit Me, just in T-zone

Blush: Daniel Sandler watercolor blush in Flush, Rimmel baked blush in Rose over top

Bronzer: None.

Highlighter: RMS cream highlight (I got it as a sample in a Christmas gift from my future husband’s work, the PopSugar box)

Setting spray: Ben Nye (what’s good enough for stage performers/professional dancers is good enough for me!)

Brows: Anastasia Clear Brow Gel (I have thick, dark brows that I will wax the week prior to wedding day, I don’t need filling in)

Eye base: Urban Decay Primer

Eyeshadow: Lorac Pro Palatte; Mauve, Taupe, Light Bronze, tiny bit of Dark Purple (dark hair, green eyes, pale skin)

Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown Gel liner in black mauve, NYX Black Pencil in upper waterline

Mascara: Dior New Look

Lips: Maybelline Rose Lip Liner, DiorAddict Extreme in 667 Avenue (a rose color)

sophielle:  that is odd. Have you looked into the YSL Glossy Stains? I’ve heard great things about those and there are a ton of colors.

Here is my products breakdown:

Primer: Benefit Porefessional on t-zone, and smashbox primer on the rest of my face

Foundation: Nars 16 All Day Weightless foundation

Concealer: Nars radiant creamy concealer

Setting powder: Nars loose powder

Blush, Bronzer, Highlighter: Naked Flushed, doing a light contouring with the bronzer in the set, and then blush and a light highlighter ontop

Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter

Brows: Anastasia Brow Wiz

Eye base: Urban decay eye primer

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked 3, and Lorac Pro Palette

Eyeliner: Stilla Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Mascara: Getting semi-permanent extensions before, so I’ll just use a light coat of a water-proof drugstore brand mascara

Lips: Still need a lip color! Maybe Mac “Please Me”.

Anyone have a good lip recommendation for a nice pink color?

I’m doing my own makeup as well! Here’s what I’ve picked out so far:

Primer: Bare Minerals Prime Time Illuminating Primer

Foundation: Bare Minerals Original Powder Foundation in “Fairly Light”

Concealer: Benefit Erase Paste

Blush: Bare Minerals Ready Blush in “The One”

Highlighter: The Balm “Mary-Lou Manizer”

Eye Primer: Urban Decay

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked 3 pallette

Eyeliner: Revlon black liquid liner (I haven’t found a liquid liner better than this one!)

Eyebrows: Benefit Gimme Brow

Mascara: Benefit Roller Lash

I haven’t decided on a lip color/brand yet. I’m interested to read everyone’s suggestions on this one. It’s so tricky to find something in a good color and finish that will last all night.

sophielle:  I wonder if you could put it on for pre-ceremony pictures and then blot off the stickiness for the ceremony (so when you kiss it won’t be sticky, but you’ll still have the color it leaves behind). Then after any kissing pictures are done, you can reapply it if you want a glossy look for any other pictures.

There are non-glossy stains but I’ve heard they can be pretty drying on the lips.

I’m also doing my own makeup and like everyone else I have all my plans set to go except lips! My skin looks super dry/cakey with lots of powders so I only set my under eye with some powder and focus on cream blushes etc.

Foundation: Laura Mercier radiance primer mixed with Make up for ever HD foundation

Concealer: Nars radiance creamy concealer

Setting powder: setting only my concealer with the lightest shade of my smashbox contour kit

Blush: Revlon cream blush (charmed) topped with Mac pro longwear (stay pretty)

Bronzer: slight bronzing/contouring with a NYX creamy contour stick and the bronzer from my smashbox contour kit

Highlighter: Pixi minderal duo (apricot glow)–not sure if it’s a true hightlighter, but thats what I use it for!

Setting spray: Urban Decay chill out

Brows: milani easybrow pencil

Eye base: urban decay eye primer

Eyeshadow: NYX nude matte (blame it on midnight), naked 2 palette (foxy), and milani satin matte (bella espresso)

Eyeliner: stila waterproof black liquid

Mascara: undecided, but I will be applying a variety of length individual lashes

Lips: seriously so torn on this! I know I want a soft pink but just can’t seem to find the right shade.

so excited to hear from other ladies braving the world of DIY makeup!

I have had good luck with Stila Stay-All-Day lipstick, but it is very pigmented, matte, and a bit drying. I wouldn’t mind the drying just to wear for one day, but at least for me, the “look” of the lipstick isn’t what I’m going for! But it sure does stay in place and doesn’t run. I have it in red.

Has anyone had luck with lipstick primers? I’m wondering if I might be able to make a regular lipstick stay around longer with one.
