Since Fiance is away until next Friday, I decided to have a makeup test run.
Everytime I’ve had professional makeup done, I haven’t liked the end result, I feel caked and I feel ‘sticky’. I wear a full face of makeup daily (nothing as full face as this) and feel I’m pretty good at it. So this, and the fact we’re having a casual elopement, has make the DIY route the best decision for me.
I didn’t have any real inspiration for this. I love a brown smokey eye, I love a highlight and contour and I love a pink lip so, et voila…
Do you Bees think I’m on the right track? I’ll be adding natural lashes for my next test run, and I’ll probably switch the lip colour to something with a more dusky pink tone, I think this one is far too bright.
Sadly (or thankfully?!) my phone adds a soft focus to selfies. My skin isn’t that pore less in real life but I really wish it was 😂

I think you did a great job! And yes I agree that shade of pink is a little bright. Great stuff bee!

Urgh, I know. By that point I’d committed and didn’t want to ruin everything taking it off and reapplying. The struggle is real 😂

I actually think you did a really good job! I don’t know if it’s just the picture but the eyeshadow looks a bit cool toned (which there is nothing wrong with btw) but have you tried more earthy, warmer tones? Like maybe a caramel brown? I think it would compliment your eyes and skintone so much! 😍👏🏻 And I agree with you on the lip color – something more subtle would suit the eye look more 😊

The crease is 3 different eyeshadows all layered up but they’re all very cool toned and ashy. I’ll try similar colours in a warmer tone next time and see how I get on.
Yeah definitely need a different lip colour. That’s my go to and I’d fully committed before realising it didn’t work 😑

You look flawless! Very good call to do it yourself.
I agree with what you said about the lip colour (I think a dusky rose type of colour would be perfect) and the only other thing I would consider is blending your foundation sheerly over the top of your chest (depending on what you’re wearing). The only reason I say this is because your facial coverage is so full that it hides all of your freckles, so the ones on your chest create more of a contrast then you’d expect that I think sort of highlights that you’re wearing make-up. I think if the colouring on your chest was softened just slightly (definitely don’t hide all your gorgeous freckles!), it would look more consistent and natural (even though you look flawless).

I love your eye makeup! I’ve never been able to get good at it haha. And I agree that the lips are a little bright but you already addressed that 🙂

Aww thank you bee! My dress is illusion lace at the top and hits my collar bone so I can reassess once my dress is here. Totally agree about the contrast, but I’m thinking it shouldn’t be an issue with the dress as opposed to an out of shape pyjama top 😂 I’m also still a bit sunburned from last weekend so that’s making it even worse! I so appreciate your feedback!
Thank you bee! Yeah, I regretted the lip colour the minute I finished it 😞

Gorgeous! You did such a great job. I like the cooler eyeshadows, but it never hurts to play around and see what you like best in the end. The only thing I would change is the lip color, as you said. Right track for sure, I wish I could do my makeup myself and look that good!

I think you should go for a more medium coverage foundation. It looks really strange to have all of your freckles showing on your chest and arms but not on your face. It makes it clear that you’re wearing very heavy foundation and just looks off. Go for a light to medium coverage foundation that allows your natural skin to show through and then use a heavy, well-blended concealer to target any problems areas you want to cover. Lisa Eldridge has some great YouTube tutorials on pinpoint concealing that you might want to check out!
I think your eyes and eyebrows look great, but I would suggest a more muted lip. The bright color you’ve chosen isn’t super flattering In My Humble Opinion, and I think you’d look great with a more muted pink. But if the bright pink is what you love then you should go for that!
I hope my suggestions were helpful. I think you look super pretty but I think these suggestions will make you look even more beautiful. Good luck!

I’ve never found a light or medium coverage foundation that will last all day and night. Estee Lauder Double Wear is my go to, my skin reacts well to it and I know it lasts until I take it off.
As for my freckles, I mentioned in a previous post that I’m currently still a little sunburned from last weekend adding to the contrast, and that my chest and tops of my arms will be covered in my dress. I have way more freckles on my arms and chest than on my face, there’s no way around it, even without make up there is still some kind of contrast.
I also addressed the lip colour in the opening post and every other one after it. It’s far too bright, I’ll be going for something more dusky and rose toned.

You look beautiful and I would think it was done by a professional, it really looks so nice 🙂

Excellent job! I’d soften the lip as you said but that’s it!
