I am excited to present my first DIY make up trial for constructive criticism. Firstly, I have to say I love make-up and I dabble in glamour daily. The thought of doing my own make-up for my wedding day has always really excited me. Despite my excitement I am also sort of stressed out. By no means do I consider myself a professional MUA but I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Anyway, I know to present the truly radiant, polished look that I so desire for this special occasion that I am going to practice my craft so this post is potentially one of many…
So here are a few inspirational photos:
I am going for a neutral smokey eye, glowy skin and flirty lips. You get the idea… Of course my color palette varied a bit.
Here is the final product:
Please ignore the cheesy expression and the fact that I look naked. lol
Thoughts? Is it bridally? Too nuetral? Too skanky? 🙂

Love the eyes, love the coverage on the foundation etc…
I think the lipstick shade clashes with your hair and skin colouring though.

I agree that the lipstick is a bit on the loud, fuschia side. I think something closer to your second inspiration photo is what you want (too pale a lip color can make you look washed out).

The eyes are great but think the bright lips take away from the eyes too much. I’d say just a shade lighter on the lips and everything would be perfect!

I think it all looks fantastic!

@Mrs.Zapien: i think the eyes look great i don’t think that the lipstick matches the rest of your makeup. it’s a bit too much.
what colours are you using in your wedding? bm dresses, flowers, decor, etc? make sure your makeup matches those colours.

I LOVE everything but the lipstick color. I think you need a warmer pink. That one is too cool for your skintone.

I would lean more towards an orange-toned pink than that fuschia for the lipstick and try to make sure your eyeshadow is even up top. Looks great 🙂

Looks good except… well, you heard it from the bees – the lipstick!

Wow, I am impressed! You did a great job!! Are those your real eyelashes?!

In retrospect the lipstick is a little overwhelming. I think I will try a more subtle hue in a peach. Thanks for the feedback!
My wedding colors are fuschia and pastel robins egg blue. Not sure how to incorporate my colors without looking funny. 🙂
I used these great false eyelashes by Nyx cosmetics.

If your wedding colors are fuschia, you could probably find a less-bright plum that would work with your skin tone. I’d bring a scrap of the fuschia to a make-up counter with me and try to get a match that looks good on your and coordinates with your color.

I agree that I really like the eye make-up, but would opt for a more natural looking lip color.

I think Emma Stone’s makeup would look gorgeous on you! She’s wearing the following:
Chanel Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup ($55)
Chanel Blush Horizon ($74)
Revlon PhotoReady Finishing Powder in Translucent ($16.95)
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in Black ($10.95)
Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Quad in Moonlit ($12.95)
Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara ($36)
Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Framboise ($26)
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Sari D’Eau ($39)
I like the fact that some of the makeup was affordable (Revlon.) The only changes I would make would be MAC fluidline (the gel stuff in the pot) because it really stays and brushes on so smoothly instead of the colorstay liquid eye pen, and I would also switch out the blush and foundation because Chanel is pricey! You can always try the Chanel at your local department store to see if the colours look good and then find drugstore clones 🙂
