I’ll be doing my own makeup for my wedding in June so I decided to go to MAC and have them do what they would do on me so I knew what I needed to get for shadows and whatnot.
I liked the colors she used and everything just didn’t love how it came out. I think it was a little TOO natural (I’m a pretty big makeup person). I think my main issue was the eyes. I didn’t feel like there was enough emphasis on them.
Here’s after the trial.
So then I decided I would wipe it all off and (sort of) follow what she did myself (with my few tweaks).
This is what I came up with.
So what do you think ladies? Does my version look okay? Is there anything you would change? I’m up for ideas!

Yikes, must not be great. I’ll add a poll. Haha

You are beautiful so it would be hard to make you look bad. However both looks like every day make-up. It’s pretty but very natural andyou could use some more pop on the eyes or lips just to make it more wow than an every day look.

@Puppy Love: i like yours better! Its hard for others to do my makeup bc im picky as well. ive been going to the same makeup artist at mac for a couple years & shes the only one that “gets me”. Haha. you may want a luttle more blush as the camera will flush you out some.
Here is one of my engagement pics. I had the blush & bronzer caked on (per my makeup artists recommendation). I felt silly but the pics turned out flawless. Sorry its so big, im on my ipad & i also have no idea why it posted at the top. oh Well. You get the idea 🙂

I like yours better. I won’t let anyone touch my eyes!! I still would add a little more colour to the lids..purple? You have a similar eye colour to me x

Yours is much better, but I would still some eyeshadow and mascara to make the green in your eyes pop out more.

I like yours so much more! I’m big on eyes as well 🙂

If you did not like the results of the first trial, perhaps you can try another?
I understand why you’re feeling as if the professional look may be a bit understated, but it looks very fresh and beautiful, and you are a beautiful, fresh-faced young woman! 🙂
To be honest, I would be a bit concerned that you’re not going to like your photos if you go with the way that you did your own eyes in the pic you’ve posted for us. I think you’ve extended the color a little too far to the sides, and it actually almost looks like a bruise.

@mixtapehearts: Thanks! And I agree, it’s not “fancy” enough for me either.
@IUrebekah3RT: You are gorgeous! I definitely need some more blush and, well, just something different for the face overall. I wasn’t overly impressed with the finished look of my skin.
@Kimy: That’s a good idea! The darkest color is actually a really dark purple but you can’t really tell. Maybe I need to get a lighter one to add to the lid. And YAY for green eyes! 🙂
@ScorpioBee: Thanks! I agree. 🙂
@littlemisssally: Thank you! It’s basically the only thing I ever accent/focus on my face. Haha

i think your lid should be darker and maybe darken the corners..it makes it look more dramatic

@Brielle: You are definitely right about extending it too far! I realized that and could NOT, for the life of me, fix it (darn primer). I would’ve had to remove it all and start over and that was NOT happening. Haha, I’ll have to try again and keep it tighter to my eye. Thanks! 🙂

@Puppy Love: I like yours better, the way she did yours is too natural for my taste. Youre beautiful so you don’t need tons of make up but I think heavier on the eyes and definitely some blush 🙂

@MrsRichard: Thank you! And definitely on the darker eyeshadow and blush, that seems to be the consensus. 🙂

It’s very pretty, but looks extremely natural in photos. If you like dramatic make-up, I would amp it up a lot! You are gorgeous and your face can definitely handle more make-up. I think you need a bit darker of a color on the lid, in the same color family but just deeper. And I would have a brighter highlight shade on the brow bone. Are you wearing fake lashes? If not, definitely add them, they make eyes pop!
My other comment is I like the lip color and it’s great to keep it pretty natural if you are focusing on eyes, but I think more blush would really brighten up your face.

I agree with pp that fake lashes would help, or at least a more dramatic mascara. I think the eye shadow looks great though.
