hello ๐
first time poster here.
basically, i’ve had professional hair / makeup done in the past and have never liked it. i’m extremely picky, and usually just wear a small amount of makeup, so when i’ve had it done in the past i just look way too different and fake and unnatural.
i’m wondering – if i find the “right” makeup artist for the job, do you think they’ll be able to create a look i’m happy with? or if i’ve never liked it in the past, is it safe to assume i won’t like anything anyone will do?
i would rather not do it myself on the day because i know i’ll be really emotional and nervous and a bit frazzled – but i don’t know if i trust anyone else to do something i’ll like.
thoughts?

I did my friend’s makeup for her wedding and it looked awesome. If you have a bridesmaid that is good at makeup consider asking them to do it. That way they already know how you look on a daily basis and you can do plenty of trials until you are happy (without having to pay every time). I would probably ask someone who knows me personally because they will probably have a better idea of what you are going for

I feel the same about pro hair and makeup, so I just did my own. ๐

Makeup application is an art, and as such you won’t like what every artist creates. I would suggest makeup trials with different makeup artist in your area. until you find a artist you like. You can certainly find one.

I’m getting professional makeup even though I’m a bit nervous about how it will look, because I want to have airbrushing to make sure it won’t smear/smudge/etc. I’m going to get a trial first, and if I don’t like how it looks, then I’ll keep trying dif artists til I find one I like, and I’ll be quite specific about what I want – I think a good makeup artist should listen as long as you make it clear (saying ” I want to look natural” means different things to dif people, after all)
As far as hair though, I’m not letting anyone but me anywhere near it. I don’t trust hairdressers – any time I have gone to one the hairdo has failed to last and has been full of damaging rubbish.
