Hi-ya Bees with Bellies!!!
Was anyone brave enough or know anyone who was brave enough to DIY a maternity photo shoot? Hubbs suggested since he only wanted to be in a handful of the photographs, and since I want a more natural light, outdoor, journalistic type shoot, he would like to be the one to take the pics. He said he’d “love to”. We’ve tried to contact our “go-to” photographer for the past couple months now with no success. And each time I see prices for other photogs in the area, I cant help but think we could buy evvvverything we need for the baby with that kinda money! Lol. Hmmmm…can we do my maternity photos ourselves?
I’d love to see DIY maternity photos of yours or of those you know who DIY’d their shoot. Any tips, tricks, inside info?

I have a friend who decided that instead of shelling out lots of money for photos they would buy a really nice camera to take the pictures with and to take pictures of their baby when she came. They turned out absolutely beautiful. They took them outside at a park and even set a timer and took some of both. If your SO is comfortable doing it I say go for it. Best of luck

@becauseilovehim: Yay! I got a response. I was starting to think all the ladies were thinking I was crazy. Lol. Setting a timer sounds good to me!! Especially since Hubbs says he only wants to be in a few shots. Investing in a tripod would still be morw reasonable than a photog. Thanks!
Anyone else?

@katieebee: I honesly think it’s way to expensive to take maternity pics! save that $$ for baby:) I think the DIY pics are great not only because you save money but because daddy gets to do it! How sentimental :))))
My idea (we might do this too): invest in a pricey and great wuality camera so that you can not only take the maternity pics but also you can take post-birth family pics and newborn pictures…..and baby shower pics…and 1st birthday pics…it’ll really come in handy. I think you can get an awesome Nikon one for like $450.00 which is the price if maternity pics anyways but you can actually use the camera forever:) and for future pregnancies.

I want to do this, but unless we go to some famous tourist site, no one will take photos of the both of us.
I’m thinking of going to DC and have other tourists take our picture–one in front of every site. 🙂

Luckily, my sister went to photography school….and although she didn’t end up finishing, she’s great. She’ll be taking our photos, free of charge. 🙂

Me and the hubby will also be doing our pictures ourselves to save money, (although i do think maternity pro pics are worth the money if you have it!) i do photography as a hobby so hopefuly they will come out decent. i wuld suggest def getting a tripod, even if hubby doesnt want t obe in most of them, it will come in hnady. also a remote for when you guys are taking pictures together, it is SO much eaiser to use that then to run and set the timer every time you want to take a picture. also look up some ideas/poses that you want to emulate and print them out and bring with you when your doing your photos so that yuo get the pics you want!

I’m actually starting to get uber excited about this! I Googled some pro maternity pics to get an idea of some of the poses that seem easy enough to immitate. I also looked up DIY maternity photos and was thrilled with how some of those look. I say if we go out to a nice spot and take a kabillion pics, there are bound to be several that we like!
My entire fam lives in other cities and states and I’m thinking they will just be happy to get some photos in the mail in general!! They haven’t seen me at all with my tummy. And of couse, I want to lock this moment in time to look back on and to share with LO when he’s older. Yep, I think DIY will cover it!!!
I would love to see some if you got em, Bees…
