I tried to DIY mercury glass. It didn’t go so well… I mean, it’s okay, but I’m a perfectionist so I wasn’t thrilled with the results. Let me see if I can dig up some photos for you…

@bakerella:  I had the same experience – it did not turn out looking like mercury glass at all πŸ™

@unixfairy:  Ya. I mean, I still have mine. I should get rid of them. They turned out a little too blotchy/streaky for my taste unfortunately. Not what I was hoping for πŸ™

@RAWR.its.BREN:  I’m with Bakerella and Unixfairy….. I tried and got very frustrated. The second attempt did go better, but I think I’d go crazy trying to make a bunch of them (and have them all look *perfect*). That being said, mercury glass looks amazing so I think it’d be a really pretty centerpiece addition πŸ™‚

I don’t know anything about the mercury thing, but I saw this awesome way to grow your own moss the other day, you mix some stuff up and paint with it. It was pretty cool, they painted words and stuff with it. I can give you the link to the picture if you want, I’d include it on my post but it’s a really big picture.

If anyone is still looking for mercury glass vases, check out my posting on the Classifieds.  I have twelve gorgeous, hand-blown, mercury glass vases that I’ve decided not to use (we’re going in a different direction.)

They are brand-new and totally stunning!  If you’re in Chicago and interested, let me know!
