My take on the MIB invites:
Since we are having a small beach wedding, I decided I would make the invites a little fancy. My Fiance got pretty stoked when I pitched the MIB idea so I knew we had to make them.
I purchased my supplies from http://www.bottlemeamessage.com/, I ordered the bottles, corks, sand, and shells from them. For the invite and labels, I used white card stock that I purchased from Walmart.
We also purchased some scented oil from Walmart to give the bottles a nice beachy smell when their opened.
I started by designing everything in Word, printing it on white cardstock, then aging the paper.
I soaked the paper in a tea/coffee mixture and sprinkled paprika on them before baking the paper in the oven. Once it was cooled, we burned the edges… my Fiance was much better at this for some reason, I kept setting paper on fire haha
Some came out more aged than others, we weren’t striving for perfection. Next we adhered the label with modge podge then filled the bottles with scented sand and shells. (side note – we didnt burn the labels edges, we just ripped them a little)
Next we rolled the invites to fit into the bottle, and tied the string around/through them.
Then we attached the tags…
Put a cork in it and wa-la! (I forgot to get a picture of it, but we ended up wrapping some of the cord around the neck of the bottle)
Everyone got a kick out of them and it was another fun bonding experience with the Fiance 🙂
